About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Friday's Fave Five, What a Week!!

It's time to look back on the week that has been and share some of my favourite things .
And what a week it has been!!

1. My number one has got to be my husband this week, or any other week for that matter!!
He has moved heaven and earth to get me my camera, and he has succeeded!!!
I was convinced it would not be happening for me this week, but he MADE it happen.
The look on his face was priceless when he stood before me with a package hidden behind his back , and I'll bet you could all hear me yell when I opened it!!

2. A new look for my living room!!! My poor husband has been great helping me out with my living room project. It was 1.30 AM before we finally went to sleep last night! He's been helping me moving all the heavy stuff from one side of the living room to the other, disconnecting and reconnecting the TV, DVD, stereo ... Everything but painting and cleaning, which is my assignement!!

UPDATE: It's now 17:47 PM and the job is DONE!! Woohoo!!
No more painting!!! Finito!!! * Does the happy dance!!!* Let the fun begin!

3. My new camera of course. The new Canon SX10 IS, I love it!!
Many of you have asked about it, so I'm adding this video review for you to enjoy!!

4. Chinese take out food! You gotta love take out food when you're too busy to cook!!

5. The European Starling mother and her baby's goofing on the food I've put there have given me the perfect opportunity to try out my zoom lens!! 20x zoom means I can zoom in from my kitchen and photograph them without having to disturb them!! Awesome!!

Oh dear ME! What a difference a digit makes! I have the PowerShot SX110 IS (see the extra ONE in there?) LOL! Your camera is so far above mine I don't even want to think about it! I'm back to being jealous again! (but I really LOVE my little one!)

That appears to be a VERY nice camera. Well done, your hubs. I like my 30D, but I am already hungering for a 50D - twice the resolution and a few other nicer features than mine - not the least of which is the self-cleaning thing for the sensor. Of course - I don't have IS and I don't have 20x zoom - but you do and that's what's important.

Go to it, girl. Have fun.

Awwww.....I love the picture of the little baby starlings! We have several baby American Robins around our yard and they are just adorable.

And your husband looks like he's a little teddy bear. Sounds like he spoils you about as much as Peter spoils me!

Oh my, poor girl doing all this painting and moving the furniture. Your camera looks great but it is so big ! far to big for me, I love when it is very small and I can hide it in my sleeve to play paperazzi, lol !

Yea new camera!!! Yea fantastic hubby!!!

I thought starlings laid their eggs in other birds' nests and didn't bother raising their young. Another myth busted! Great photos, I can't wait to see what you come up with now!

A high point of my week is coming and seeing your pictures, this week I especially like those little birds.

We are painting at our house also, I am in the mood for some soothing colors so hubby is willing to change the wall colors for a little while :)

Your new camera sounds amazing! I had no idea you weren't using an SLR, but Canons are awesome like that. I have the Canon G9 and it takes great photos too with the same setting options as your new camera. I cannot believe you will have 20x optical zoom...that is incredible!! I might need to look into this camera for myself since it is a better deal than buying the SLR with all the lenses, etc.

What a fabulous week you had. I'm so glad your got your camera and your hubby is positively spoiling you rotten LOL. Just kidding. I'm glad he's been such a big help. He must truly love you. Here in the US we call it take out when we got to a restaurant and pick up food to bring home. Picky I know, but that's what we say. A take away is in basketball...when the other team takes away the ball LOL. Oh never mind...it's no big deal. Great photos and thank you for sharing. Have a great FFF :)
