About Me

My photo
Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Summer Stock Sunday, Another Brick in the Wall

We don't need no education

We dont need no thought control

No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone

Hey! Teachers!
Leave them kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, Do it again!"

"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding.
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"

"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

Wow Jientje, these are fabulous! I love the way you move back and forth between gritty and whimsical, and your niece is a delightful model. I wish you lived closer, I'd have you take photos of my kids!

Thanks so much for sharing this for Summer Stock (I put your link up for you by the way, since you're off galavanting around Provence this week).

I love that song

she is a wonderful actress, far more than a model

I always use song titles for my posts, but WOW! I love the way you "photographed" that song. The depths of the photos are incredible. I couldn't stop staring at the details. Your niece is a perfect model!

Oh, Jientje, what a glorious collection of photos. You and Paulien will cherish these forever! She is a beautiful young woman already! I love the photo of her reflection in the mirror where the reflection is in color and the rest is sepia. Genius!!

When did we lose the ability to interact naturally with the camera as your niece so aptly does? I've been trying to find just one photo where I don't look like I'm in pain or totally foolish, no luck. As a photographer, how much direction do you provide for your subjects? Or do you just let them "be" and wait for these perfect shots? Whatever your approach, it works. These photos are remarkable.

My daughter Paulien is a natural! She loves the camera and ever since she was a child, she loved being taken photographs of, so...
So very unlike her mother... although I must say it has improved lately! I don't look like a total fool anymore on every picture!
Very nice photoshoot!
Big hug,
Your little sister

Extremely interesting and fun to look at. The girl is just gorgeous and I can guess she'll go far if she decides to model or act!

Beautiful! Always enjoy your photos so very much. How is France? We are going to Paris next spring- give me tips if you have any. Perhaps we should go to Provence.
