About Me

My photo
Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Sepia scenes, Different Playground, … New Toys …

jamaicawildliferedskywatch006-1-1

I’ve been experimenting with a new computer program I found through  Robynn at Robynn’s Ravings yesterday. It’s called Windows Live Writer, and I’m thrilled with it!
If you want to see what it can do, there’s another very interesting review here.

The program scans your blog for your blog features and saves them … So when you make a draft,  your screen appears as your blog page, and you can see what your post will look like once it’s posted.
I’ve been playing around with it a little, and it’s amazing what it can do.
And it only takes seconds!

I uploaded this picture below straight from the archives.
I can add photo paper …

Change the size, small, medium and large,
add a watermark,
and I can even turn it into a sepia or a black and white.
Even then I can still play around with it, and change the brightness and the contrast.
Even tilt it! Look!
Isn’t that fun?

This is what it looks like after I fiddled around with it a little. I ran a sepia effect on it, I ran a color pop after that, and then adjusted the color temperature . I can even add a reflection!
FUN isn’t it?

IMG_1607

I cropped it, framed it as an instant photo and  ran color pop on this one. Not bad eh?

And this is what happens when you run a color pop first, then turn it into a black and white and change the color temperature by moving the slider to the right. Another kind of sepia, very different to the first one, right?

I could go on and on, but that would be boring. It’s a great new toy I found there and I like it a lot.
Just follow the links if you’re interested, download it, and try it for yourself.
It’s one of the most exciting playgrounds I found lately.

The pics are very nice and I like what you can do with them. When I read about a program like this, dealing with images, I think of my father, who was an artist, but who did not live to see the digital age of images. I often wonder how he would have reacted to all this. From the dark room to the computer, and no chemicals, what a change. A different world. To think that a program can be written to make a photograph look like a Van Gogh, just boggles the mind.

Great toy, Jientje, thanks for the info. I had read about it but I never download a new program before somebody I "know" tells me it is safe. So now I have it and I am loving it, thanks to you!! it makes blogging much, much easier!!

Your photos are so beautiful - they deserve to be on post card! I like playing with pictures - most of mine are not useful any other way. But your pictures are very beautiful as they are taken - I would take the original :)

I'm going to have to re-visit this. Months ago, it didn't look so attractive, I think they've improve to compete with Google. Who cares the reason, as long as it works. Thanks for the tip, your results are outstanding.

I failed to say, I love what you've done for this post. Wonderful.

I'm gonna try out your new toy. Thanks for the recommendation. Wish me luck. :)

I have heard much raving about this. I may just have to give it a try!

Oh. It says I must use Internet Explorer. I don't like IE. Will it work without it? And I can't use it now anyway. Until I return home to my new computer, I am blogging from an ancient Mac, and I see no Apple support.

So I tried Mozilla Firefox! And it works!
Big hug!
Your little sister

@ Robin: I did!
@ Wanda: It's awesome
@ Nessa: It's very user friendly, you'll figure it out!
@ Nana: I'm glad you like it!
@ Jacki: I can relate to that, mine have not yet been sorted out either!
@ Moneythoughts: It's mindboggling, indeed it is! Thanks to digital photography, there is much more room to experiment and try new things and play around with that camera! I love it! Not sure if I would have liked the chemical stuff or the dark room though?
@ Mama: have fun!
@ Mar: So you trust me then? That's great
@ ellievellie: Thanks for the compliment!
@ Sherrie: You're welcome!
@ Jan: You do that, I like it a lot!
@ Jan: I enjoyed doing it, it shows eh?
@ Cherie: I wish you luck!
@ Quilly: You should!
@ Quilly: I'm using Mozilla, and so does Thom. But I think I read it does not work with a Mac. Give it a go when you get home, it's great.
@ Bientje: At LAST little sister! I TOLD YOU, didn't I????
@ Kaye: I did, and it's a nice post!

Thanks, Jientje, I'll try it! Love the sepia and the black and white! What are they? Sugar jars? :)

I tried WLW awhile ago and at first liked it but then had some trouble with it as it first lost a post, and another time it did not let me re-edit a post after publishing. I'll have to try it again. I love the photo effects!

I love what you have done with your new toy. But I have downloaded it and have spent the whole afternoon with no end of troubles - it won't recognize my blog.
