About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Friday’s Fave Five, Rain and Shine

FFF fall leaves 2

Well, it was a bit of a weird week this week with lots of unexpected mishaps. The blog meeting with Gattina had to be cancelled because of the rain, we’ve had lots and lots of rain this week, and there was other scary stuff I really rather want to leave behind me as soon as possible …
But as always, there was sunshine too.

Fave Five oct 9

1. My Halloween witch has made her appearance in my living room again. Can you see how happy she is to be back?
2. A lot of candles making the home cozy and warm. Nothing better than to snuggle up on the couch with a fleece plaid and enjoy the new Fall decorations and the lit candles.
3. A nice pot of tea with lemon and honey to go with it.
4. The food. I went shopping at the supermarket this afternoon, and just looking at all the wintery veggies made my mouth water. The wild mushrooms like girolles and chanterelles are back, forever one of my favorite Winter ( side) dishes.
5. I’m going to make a good stew tonight. And let it rest in the refrigerator overnight to let all the flavors mingle and make it taste even better the next day. And then tomorrow at noon … when I come back from my photography class ( we’re going to photograph the sunrise!) I’ll have a heartwarming dish all ready to serve!

Have a great week!
More Fave Five at Susanne’s living to tell the story.

I think that I'll put stew on the list for dinner tomorrow night:-)
I sure hope that the coming week is a better one for you.

I can´t wait to see that sunset picture.
Isn´t it great to come home and already have the meal ready. I love doing that too and it´s what I did yesterday too. I made butter bean soup.

The stew sounds very good. You will love photographing at sunrise. It's my very favorite time of day to photograph. It's different then sunset because instead of losing time because of impending darkness you are gaining time because of impending day light!

I'm loving candles this fall as well. And the rich smells of the fall vegetables and spices, so warm!
