About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Macro Monday, Details and Close-ups of a Barn

mm

Like I said, photographing barns was great fun and this particular one had a lot of great macro opportunities.

I’m not sure if this is a spider or another insect. Does anybody know? He does have some kind of a web or silky threads, so it could be a spider, but he looks VERY different to ours?

He looks very threatening too, come to think of it. I’m very glad he remained up there while I was taking his picture!

The metal roof may be pulling away, but the nails are clinging on. First I noticed the fine silky web on the crabapples, then I spied the spider! It looks like it might be a type of jumping spider to me Jientje.

They just don't make barns like that anymore. The wooden ones have so much character! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.

That is, I believe, a Banded Garden Spider. It is a carnivorous predator, most often a danger to flying insects it catches in it's web. Creepy. *shudder* I am an arachniphobe - spiders just creep me out. BUT. I do love old barns - for all the reasons illustrated above.

Wow, Lou, I'm impressed. A Banded Garden spider. Well, if it has 8 legs it is a spider, as spiders have 8 legs. Nice shots of an old barn too.

Spiders creep me out, too! Isn't is amazing how nature starts taking things over again once they are abandoned.

Great shots Jientje, love the hinges and the rusty old nails (I know i'm weird, lol). That spider does look kinda scary, I am nervous around them. Kathy.

A fun series of excellent photos. I tried to count the legs on the critter. Can't make out enough to be sure.

Great shots! I never saw a spider like that before. But it's amazing that you can see the spider web so well!

Lovely wood, lovely textures - beauty in decay! And yes, I believe that is a spider with it's legs all folded up tight. He just has that one foot resting on a thread so he can tell if something lands in his trap!

these are great shots! UMMM ok that spider was not a spider I would want JUMPING on me! It just gives me the heebie-jeebies just looking at it! Love your barn pics. Isn't it amazing how the simplest of pics can capture the eye and make for a beautiful shot! I told my huhoney to stop so I cold take a picture of a fence once and he looked at me like I was crazy!

I tried to make a comment but blogger went haywire. So I will try again. You pictures are fantastic, I love looking at old barns and all old buildings. There is so much character and a history we are not privy to.

Thank you for sharing.

So sorry that I haven't been by lately. Life has gotten in the way of my blog reading...but I'm trying to get caught up.

Love, love, love the shot with the nails.
I have no idea what kind of spider that is, but in Macro, he certainly does look scary!
