About Me

Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother, not a grandmother,I don't know if I'll ever be, but I'll let you know in due time! Oh and um ... I am a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Street views in Provence, Bonnieux

Over the years, on the many walks through small villages in Provence I took photos of street views. Some of the houses, windows and doors are beautifully decorated with flowers and plants, and I can never get past them without taking pictures.
Over the next couple of weeks, this is what I intend to share on Thursdays ....

This is a street in Bonnieux, a village in the Luberon, Vaucluse department.
Population: 1 363 people (2004)

Bonnieux is one of the most beautiful villages perched north side of the Luberon. The territory stretched from the ridges of the Luberon to the Clapar├Ędes plateau and to the shores of Calavon river.

Your pictures are delightful! I really like that alleyway and how it seems to have so much texture and personality. Lovely!

Welcome back - missed you and your beautiful photographs!!! Beautiful surroundings to take such stunning photos - love them!!! Now that I am practising with the Canon (350D) - not a big one but something quite different to what I'm used to - how do you get your scenery pics so clear? We are popping down to the Cape again next weekend to see my Mum, sister in law (who is going through chemo for breast cancer), and hubby is going to scatter his Mum's ashes (not a fun trip really :( ! but I will only take this camera to take scenery pics etc. Jeanette takes all her photos on Av (not auto)and adjusts the f.stop 'thingie' - I've been trying out the lowest f.stop to get the subject in focus with everything else blurry - now I need to try photos with everything, near and far, in focus. Any tips???? !

Jientje, you photos are gorgeous as always. I'm so happy to be back following your blog again. My son was in Belgium last fall and I have shared your site with him as he was very taken with Belgium, too.

I love the 2nd and 3rd photos, the way the flowers are framed out in the photo.
