----------------- I've entered a major international photo competition (details are on my blog) and would be most grateful if you'd click through and rate my portfolio (just click on the stars at the bottom (preferably the 5th star - "fantastic" - LOL), easy peasy, no registration or personal details needed). Thanks so much!
That first photo!!! That little building is an excellent example of 'wattle and daub' building. That exposed wooden lattice work you see is called 'wattle' - and the whitewashed coating over the wattle is called 'daub' - usually, a mixture of wet soil, straw, animal dung, clay and sand. Many times it's covered over with a thin layer of plaster - or just whitewashed.
Lovely photo - and exciting to see the exposed wattle.
I love how you make it so I really do feel like I'm walking along with you. The second photo especially feels that way.

There's a little part of my brain that thinks Belgium still looks like this! Time to stop reading historical fiction.
