We drove past Gordes on the way to Joucas, and I just had to get one more picture of this very lovely perched village.
Joucas is a terraced village which is largely overlooked by tourists, unlike the other villages in the Luberon. It is situated on a hill opposite the ochre of Roussilon
and only six kilometers away from the city of Gordes which is much better known by tourists.
Let’s climb the tiny step-streets all the way up to the top of Joucas and let me lead you through this little hidden treasure? Follow me, I promise, it’s worth it!
Look at that view? Breathtaking isn’t it?
I told you it was worth it?

Well, isn't this lovely! Double fun! I know this area SO well! My parents lived in this area until last year so I visited often. It's one of my favorite places in France. AMD, although I don't specify it in my "where is home" page, I was born in Brussels. Glad I dropped by to find this wonderful post, Jientje!
What a lovely and delightful outing!! beautiful place and road. Best of all: my knees didn't hurt! (they did when I read "terraced", lol
Yes, very worth it! Looks like a wonderful place to visit with a camera. Delightful is right.
My husband and I are mesmerized by this lovely village and the sweeping views. Thanks so much for sharing such beauty.
Well worth the effort to travel through such a pretty village and then be rewarded by such a superb view.
Absolutely stunning. It's reminding me a bit of Tuscany. I do so love quaint little villages off the beaten track.
You see the most beautiful places. How do you do that? Traveling, traveling, always traveling?
Wonderful place!
Hi Jientje,
First of all let me say it's nice seeing you posting again. :)
Loved the 'tour' - romantic little scenes.
Beautiful views from the village, but I was also impressed with the terraced streets, so clean and well kept.
Now that you are up and blogging, I'm off on vacation! But I found a moment to scroll through and see what I've been missing. Those cobblestone steps are wonderful. So enchanting! And the cherries are AMAZING!!
AMAZING!!
I think I want to go there
a visit from distant places
This looks like an amazing place! I'm still making plans for my Belgium and Northern France trip but I've been thinking about finding places like this for a future trip. I love these pictures!
This is the kind of place I'd love to roam with my camera! Very lovely.
