About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Ruby Tuesday, Red Poppies

ruby-slippers-door-stop_copy

There is no other flower that reminds me of Spring and Summer so much like poppies do. They’re my favorite wild flowers. I photographed this little alley in Ménerbes. I took a couple of photographs but now I find I can’t decide which version I like best?

So tell me, which version do YOU like best?

I do that too: take dozens and then can't decide.
Seeing that I love stone, rocks and boulders, I prefer the top version, with that extra cushion of background.
Smashing combination of red and grey. Well done you!
(And we finally got some rain early this morning. I spent three hours getting very wet bottling as much as I could :-)

They are both brilliant but I think I like the bottom one the best. I'm not sure why.

Both are gorgeous, but I like the way the vertical one leads you into the picture. Your photos of Provence remind me of Tsefat, in northern Israel. You would love it there... so much to photograph in a little city (it sits in the mountains up high).

That was a beautiful combination, Jientje...the rustic stones and delicate poppies! I like the vertical one, it gives you the feel of walking up into the pathway.

I don't know which one I like better, either.

I like the first one better - it seems more luxurious with more green in it. It makes me want to sit and meditate. Both lovely pictures, though...

What gorgeous takes of the stone and the poppies. I think I like the second because it just seems to emphasize the little narrow path.

Love, love, LOVE the first one.....I think this is one of the best photos...or is it cause I love poppies too......I could paint this one it is so beautiful (and I could paint!) You capture the essence of the wild poppy, both are beautiful photos but the first one is stunning!

This is a tough one. They are both great shots.
The second one concentrates more on the poppies which is what you wanted????:)

Hard to decide - I love them both. Poppy season is long over here. Looking forward to the next one :)

I can't decide which is my favorite either..they are both fantastic shots...!!

I like them both and if I had seen only one I'd love it but I like the more intimate feel of the first one. I feel like I'm standing right there whereas the vertical one I just feel I'm looking at the scene. I disagree with A Lady's Life in that the second one your eye is drawn more to the vertical than the poppy. :)
Art is subjective and we each have our own likes.
Both beautiful in their own way.

Hmmm...I'd have to say the landscape one is my favorite. Though I like the second one, the first one just looks perfect.

Beautiful! I vote for the first picture, but really they are both wonderful!

I like the first one better - although I would be mighty happy with either one of them hanging in my house. Keep up the good work - you have an eye for my kind of pictures.

I, too, am drawn to flowers and rocks. Both of these photos are awesome and have their advantages. The first one shows off more of the rocks and their beauty, the second shot, in the landscape position, focuses first on the flowers and then draws the viewer's eyes up with walk to the light at the top of the path.
