My daughter gifted me this flower arrangement when she visited me last weekend. Isn’t it lovely? It’s always such a pity when beautiful flowers wither, so I thought the best way to preserve its beauty is to take pictures while it’s still fresh and share them on my blog.

Bokrijk Museum Park is more than just any museum. It’s a place where daily life in the 1900’s really comes alive, thanks to the reenactment scenes of the actors and the keepers of the houses. I loved how this lady was cooking a real meal on that old coal stove. It was almost noon and the aromas of baked chicken and apple sauce filled the whole house and made us very hungry!

I could not resist this superb display with all the old tomato varieties when I passed by a tiny grocery store in Goult. It made me greedy, I wanted to buy one of each!
My favorite tomato is the Coeur de Boeuf tomato, it’s the one on the bottom row right next to the pink bulbs of garlic.

There is no other flower that reminds me of Spring and Summer so much like poppies do. They’re my favorite wild flowers. I photographed this little alley in Ménerbes. I took a couple of photographs but now I find I can’t decide which version I like best?

Cherries … my favorite fruit. They’re the perfect image of Summer to me.
I asked my husband to pull the car over when we drove past a cherry orchard in Ménerbes. I knew they would make lovely rubies!
They look so juicy and shiny you can even see me reflected in them!
They tasted heavenly by the way!

This little grocery store,- épicerie as they call them in Provence - is in Ménerbes, a tiny village in Provence. I loved this little store, it was packed with everything imaginable. They sell EVERYthing, from souvenirs to cheeses and sausages, fruits and vegetables, postcards … We went in there looking for some small cheeses from local farmers and they were just right to eat. I love to buy local produce as much as I can when I’m on holiday, it beats tasteless imported supermarket food! The thing that always strikes me as unusually friendly when I buy fruits or veggies in France is that you’re allowed - sometimes even encouraged - to TOUCH them and choose your own!
No angry shopkeepers telling you not to like I’m used to where I live!

A medieval festival was being held in Deurne near Antwerp this weekend. Almost a thousand participants from all over the world were gathered here this weekend.
For two days they slept, worked and lived as they would have during the middle ages.
Their costumes were accurate right down to the tiniest details.
Shoes …
spectacles
musical instruments
even the dog’s leach was exactly how it would have been in the old days.
They even prepared
and presented their food as seen on old paintings.
Not a lot of anachronisms were spotted.
except for the odd cell phone perhaps?
