About Me

Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Abandoned …

It’s been a while since I took this set of photos, I finally took some time to edit them today. I applied an “Agfa” action from PhotoScape for that aged look.

One beautiful Spring day when we were out in the country we came across this old farmhouse. The sign said it was for sale and that’s how I found the courage to snoop around a little. After all, if somebody came after me I could always say I was interested in buying it, no?

Looking back, I think there were still so many pictures left untaken. I should have taken a lot more. But I was a little bit nervous because I was trespassing and my husband – who was waiting in the car - did not know what I was doing!

All the doors were open so I gathered all my courage to have a peek inside as well. Tomorrow I’m going to take you inside …

nice work...
I'm sure the past owners would not be upset with someone just taking pictures of their interesting place....

You have a knack of finding the beauty in these old run-down places. I don't know why but the chair appealed to me. Loved all the angles that you took of it. I'm glad you took pictures inside as well, I can't wait to see them.

I would see a mess. You see beauty. I would think the owners owe you a commission of some sort and should use your photos in their sales info.

Beautiful pictures. I can't believe you had the courage to go inside. I would have been to scared. you really captured the feel of the place. I can just imagine some one sitting in that chair taking a little rest from a days hard work..a small glass of wine or perhaps some tea.

I always get nervous if I think I'm breaking rules so, consequently, I always get caught! lol Looking forward to more. :)

There is such beauty in decayed and decaying things and you have captured this here.

I have often dreamed about buying an old farmhouse like this in some European countryside and restoring it. This one looks spectacular!

What a fantastic find! I bet your camera was very, very pleased that you took it for a walk around and through this place. :)

You certainly captured the essence of abandonment here with the laundry basket on the ground and the rake still leaning against the post. I love these photos and the items you chose to capture. Just marvelous!

Oh, wow! What a find!! I came across a similar old abandoned farmhouse quite recently and took a few outside pictures, but it had been made into a bird nesting site, so I did not go inside.

Gorgeous photos!
