About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Sunday Selections, a Walk around Bruges

Kim, over at Frogpondsrock has created a new weekly meme called Sunday Selections.
This is how it works:

"I take a lot of photos and most of them are just sitting around in folders on my desktop not doing anything. I thought that a dedicated post once a week would be a good way to share some of these photos that otherwise wouldn’t be seen by anyone other than me.

I am also remarkably absent minded and I put photos into folders and think that I will publish them later on and then then I never do.

So I have started a photo meme that anyone can join in and play as well. The rules are so simple as to be virtually non existent.

Just add your name and URL to the Mr Linky.

Publish your photos on your blog using the “Sunday Selections” title.

Link back here to me.

Easy Peasy."

I was browsing through my folders from March, one year ago and I found loads of unedited and thus unpublished pictures from a walk in Bruges I made then. I cannot believe I almost forgot all about them, it would be such a shame not to publish them!
I hope you enjoy this walk around my city of birth!

Oh Jientje Thankyou! I am sitting here with a little tear in my eye and smiling as well. I was trying to photograph black swans the other day and thinking of you :)

Yeah, I want to visit too. The images portray much beauty, I love the 'woodland' one with the flowers coming up in the grass, it looks like a fairyland :)

Lovely photos of Bruges, they have such a serene feeling, Jientje. I loved all the archways into courtyards and buildings.

What a lovely place - those animal sculptures are gorgeous! And I love the old buildings jutting over the canal. You see - we have the same landscape, but our buildings are so .. utility-looking by comparison! Fen folk seemed to have no poetry in their souls!

Is that swan sitting on the stick nest? Doesn't look comfortable. Beautiful pictures. I keep telling you this but my dad had the same eye for a picture as you do so it is so much fun to look at what sort of shots you take.
