About Me

- Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Rubies from Bruges
For this week's Ruby Tuesday, I'm sharing some more pictures from my last trip to Bruges.
The twin houses with the wooden façades are probably the oldest houses still left intact.
This is at " De Dyver"
And this is the peaceful serenity at the beguinage.
Three Rubies from Bruges, all three very different ...
Look for more Ruby Tuesday players at Work of the Poet.

There is nothing to say ! Bruges remains Venice of the North ! Beautiful pictures !
Here there is nothing as beautiful as there.
I long to see all this someday. sigh.
It looks magical there. Wonderful pictures yet again :)
@ Gattina: Venice of the North, that's right!
@ Quilly: Someday I'll take you there, okay?
@ Robynn: Make a wish, and who knows huh?
@ Thom: It's pretty. It is.
I love those old houses.
They look fascinating!
Must be great to take a tour on those little boats :)
If I were you, living where you do, I don't think I'd every be home. I would just be wandering around all day, taking pictures and exploring.
I love it, I love it! Charming houses! Feels like I'm stepping back in time to another place. What a beautiful place you live in! Thanks, Jientje!!!!
Oh I LOVE those twin houses! I love them all! It must be AMAZING to live in a place where day to day life includes so much variety ... and beauty... and ... ART!
I like the pic in the middle. Very nice looking place, a restaurant I presume. Wouldn't mind having something on that terrace. And nice lil statues dots the i for me. Happy RT!
You are SUCH an excellent photographer.
All the flowers along the rails are so cheerful! Although I have to admit, seeing how high the water is here, I'd be scared to live there!

Feeding the birds can be hazardous to your vacation
Wow, that place is beautiful! Nice pictures and thanks for sharing something I would not otherwise have seen.
Your pictures really make me want to visit there someday!
what fantastic looking houses.wow!
I love the style houses, and your photos are beautiful. I know will add Belgium to a country I want to visits. I love the houses on the water, a canal I assume!
@ NicoleB: It is great to be a tourist in your own hometown, yes!
@ Jacki: Sadly enough, I don't live in Bruges.
It's about 75 minutes by car from where I live.
@ Sassidog: Bruges does that to you, that's true!
@ Melli: But I do wish Bruges was a little closer to where I am now!
@ prkl: I'm not sure if it's a restaurant or not.
@ Lou: you flatter me!
@ Tink: I don't recall there were ever problems with the water level though?
@ dot: it was my pleasure!
@ Susanne: I can recommend it!
@ soulbrush: they sure are.
@ Martha: Bruges is like Venice in Italy,it has lots of canals
It does look like a magical kingdom. One waits for the Prince to come.
You always post the most interesting photos awesome RT!

Wonderful Ruby Tuesday shots. Wonderful whole page of shots. I had a lovely scroll through all the beautiful photos. Your new format is great. Really gives the full impact of how wonderful they are.
I enjoyed those photos immensely, one of my favorite photography subjects is houses...old ones. Your old houses make ours look like babies!
Happy Easter and Ruby Tuesday! :)
Love your new layout and the photos of Bruges. Reminds me of when I lived in Belgium.
Coming by way of Quilly, Thom, and Melli
I've been here before, first time comment. You pictures are beautiful, Thank you for sharing.
I like looking at the Old Buildings, always try to imagine the History behind them and how long they may have been standing.
If you get a chance, stop by my blog, it isn't nearly as interesting as your blog, but worth a visit.
Cheers
Bill
The architecture is beautiful. I love old buildings.
I wouldn't want to live so close to the water, though.
Happy Ruby Tuesday!
(that pansy photo in your header is lovely!)
You always show me places I want to live, or at least visit. :)
Oh Jientje - the more I see, the more I want to see. If only I had a magic wand...I'd wave it, and Poof, I'd be out on a photo walk with you!
And I'd be eating some pretty good food too!!!
