This is part two of my series of Doel. Part one is here, please click the link if you haven't seen part one yet. Go look at those pictures first, it's important that you get the whole story. Oh and don't forget to come back tomorrow for part three.
Doel is a village near the river the Schelde which is known for its nuclear power plant. Doel has become a ghost town. The whole village is doomed to disappear because of the future enlargement of the harbor of Antwerp. Most people have felt forced to leave their properties.
Project 366 # 66
Empty streets ...
Only very few houses are still lived in.
Most of the properties have been abandoned.
Silent protest ...
Soon it will all be history ...
About Me
- Jientje
- Antwerp, Belgium
- Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Great shots Jientje. A pity that such a village has to go but now a great place for some urbex photo's. Thanks for showing.
Such a sad place, but I would love to photograph it too.
That looks really depressive ! I wouldn't like to stay there !
Tomorrow I fly home.
Reminds me an awful lot of the pictures of Chernobyl, after...
Great pictures and topic. Do you have an idea how long Doel will be remain like this?
Greetings,
Filip
Wow! Kind of sad history, but I'm glad you've recorded it here. It's good to know about this place.
Great pics! I lived in Zeeuws Vlaanderen, so I know Doel. It's sad to see, but I'd like to make there some photo's as well.
I can hardly believe someone is still living there but I just love that shot of the table and chairs and flowers. It's as if a little hope remains.
Another wonderful series Jientje!
That is sad about the village, but at least it provides some interesting photos in the meantime.
You capture the sadness of it well, Jientje.
eens binnen kijken zou ik ook wel willen
gewoon zien, in welke staat alles is wanneer iets niet meer gebruikt is of bewoond is
mooie reeksen!!
