About Me

My photo
Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother, not a grandmother,I don't know if I'll ever be, but I'll let you know in due time! Oh and um ... I am a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Thursdays is for doors …

cityisland 017 copy2

No. In case you’re wondering, no, I did not go any further than this. I might have been trespassing when I walked into the little alleyway leading up to these doors but I used my camera as an excuse. I must have looked like a tourist with my Big Guy hanging around my neck and it suited me just fine. I was so ready to play that role if someone had objected to my presence there! A door opening into another door is one of my favorite subjects so I really could not resist taking a good shot at this!
This photo was taken two weeks ago, in Bruges.

I wish I could walk around my city with my camera as easily as you do...it is just not safe to do that here, and I wouldn't want it to be stolen!

Great look at the insides with 2 doors open! An invitation to an invitation!

Very nice. I like the red. And the brick doorstopper on door #2. The black and red tile is fabulous. They just don't make 'em like that here in the young U S of A. We have little boxes made of ticky tacky and they're all stacked in a row. We call it a sub-division. It doesn't compare at all to the architecture you have over the pond there.

I think I'll take a few shots of doors for you today, to show you what I mean. Stay tuned...

Hey, I'm trying not to worry. Thought you should be the first to know! :)

And you can just see the faintest footprints on the tile floor ... very mysterious. And a lovely capture.

an open door is an invitation...

That sure is an interesting way to build a door especially if it is a door leading to the outside. It would stop all air currents from coming in.:)

And what lies behind those doors? I am so curious.

Not only do I adore the door.. that floor is amazing too! Door leading to a door peaks my interest too! Glad you didn't get in to trouble capturing this!

This is one classy photo! The open doors make me curious what is out in that nice sunshine. I am guessing you would turn to the right and exit the building??? It's just the feeling I get and can't help but wonder what is outside.
