About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Me and my Camera

"A watched kettle does not boil" Dr John told me in a comment. "The camera will come when it comes. Keep busy. " Those were very wise words of advice and I knew he was right.
So I took a deep breath and made up my mind I was going to do just that.
But boy when I decide to keep busy, I can be DRASTIC!!

I thought that if I had a long week ahead of me anyway maybe this was the right time to paint my living room ceiling. I would not be bored, time would pass much faster, and by the end of the week I would at least have a very clean house. So what was I waiting for? And so I did.
But this is not a simple task. It involves emptying all the closets, packing all the stuff I keep in them and moving the furniture from one side of the room to the other. All this needed to be done before I could clean my ceiling and start painting. I am now ready to start painting.

Now, the camera gods must have been watching me. They must have been impressed by the determined look on my face. They must have liked it how the Thirsty Traveller kept me company on the Travel Channel. Not that I was really watching it, but I can train my English just by listening to it. And grab a bit of culture while I was at it? Multitasking. I'm good at it!
They must have seen my efforts trying to master my husband's DSLR between breaks.
Me lying on my back and my belly on my patio trying to squeeze an artsy picture or two out of that camera really must have been an entertaining sight, I don't know?

They must have been impressed by all the comments and all the good vibes that were sent by the faithful readers of this blog.
Maybe it's their funny sense of humour.
Maybe they really really think that ceiling should be painted? NOW, or never?

Anyhow. They took pity on me.
My husband surprised me with the new camera last night. Oh yes, he's GOLDEN!
I am the happiest girl in the world!!!

But I still need to paint that ceiling now.
*sigh*

I will be very very busy today...

Thank goodness for the new camera. You might have felt compelled to tackle the kitchen cupboards next!

ROFL! Jientje - you EVEN paint the CLOSET ceilings? Oh dear... my closets have never been painted... I have dirty closets... oh no...

@ Melli: What on earth made you think that? I'm painting the ceilings of my room, not my closets? But in order to do that, I need to move the closets from one side of the room to the other? No? ROFL!!

I just finished catching up on your life. I've had some real drama going on and just couldn't concentrate on my blogging. I have missed you so and your photos. I like the photo of the gazing ball too and that little tiny bug on the flower. So sorry to read about your camera. I know you will do great with your new camera!

Grin, I know that pain - I should paint our Living room and the computer room, but,...nah..... ;)

What camera did you get??? You still haven't told us ;)

(Right now I'm cracking up at the painted closet ceilings,.....!)

Your first photo is fantastic! It absolutely draws me in. Hopefully the camera Gods will smile on me today. It's been 3 weeks since I ordered it and I'm going a bit crazy but patience I keep telling myself.

I am SO glad you've finally gotten your camera. I know you were getting a little crazy with anxiety.

In my life, that's the way things always happen! Still, you can take some great pics of paint mixing and stitting and brushed and trays and -- try not to paint your camera!

And I am still trying to figure out why you have to empty your closets to paint your ceiling?

AND, I'm very glad your camera is there. It is great to see you snapping shots (reflection in the gazing ball) and happy again. All is right with the world, Jientje has a camera again!

Wow ! finally the jewel is there and you can be happy again. It's just like a broken arm when it works again isn't it ? Now that dammit ceiling, take it easy, paint one stroke, take a picture, paint another one, take a picture and so forth, lol ! Whenever you feel that you have to do something, sit down and wait until this feeling is gone ! That's a tip for the future !

Yes, what camera is it? And you know that ceiling have to take second place to photography...I mean the ceiling will be there tomorrow whether you paint it today or not. But the photo you should have taken today will be gone tomorrow...

Priorities are what photography is all about! ;-))

Nothing produces quite a thrill of joy like a new camera. I know. When I got my new Canon Rebel, I took a cell phone picture of it and texted it to all my friends, confirming their suspicions of my slipping sanity.

And just think...you can take a picture of every single brush stroke! I think I'm almost as excited as you are:-D

When you are finished with the ceiling do you want to come on over and paint my bathroom? I bought the paint about a month ago and have not yet worked myself into tackling the job. I HATE PAINTING!!!!
