I know wooden clogs (and windmills) are very often almost always associated with Holland, but they are part of our Belgian heritage too.
I found a couple very photogenic ones at Bokrijk Museum Park.

Oh I really like that last one! I have some pictures from the Ardennes up today.
That first pair makes me want to just polish them up...and the last brings to mind...sweet smelling shoes!
You have out done yourself with that first pair. I love it. These are all excellent for RT as usual but again...that first pair is amazing :) Aloha and Night Night :)
Lovely, I have a few pairs too, I love the wooden clogs!! Great photos!
Hugs,
Margaret B
I didn't know that!
Love the clogs used for flowers!
The last photo is very beautiful and dramatic. I like the contrast of the wooden clog with the colourful flowers.
Lovely!!
Ditto to the previous comments. I like all the photos.
But, I have a question. Do people still wear wooden shoes? and, if they do why?
Love it! the yellow with red Clogs are quite nice. The flowers in the dutch clogs are just precious.
Great shots and I like the last one also.
I had no idea it was part of Belgium heritage too. These are gorgeous, and I love them displayed so artistically.
Love them all...great Ruby Tuesday offering. :)
We had a dutch neighbor who wore clogs all the time. Love your pics of the old ones. Especially the one with flowers.
I think I'll stick with my Crocs...LOL
I love the yellow ones...as a dansko clog wearer, I would like to see the yellow ones introduced into their style portfolio! Do people still wear the all-wooden ones?
xo
Cool that I'm following Neas - I live in my very soft Crocs! :)
I like the last one Jientje - the aged wood in contrast to the flowers is very nice.
Very beautiful shoes - great craftsmanship - the typical old fashion Bulgarian wooden shoes are made just of a flat piece of wood with a leather string across. I like to see bricks - they are my favorite background for flowers - give the cozy feeling for a happy home.
lovely pictures, especially the one with the flowers
@ Korie: Next time you should go to Bokrijk!
@ Wanda: Pretty eh?
@ Thom: You prefer the natural look then?
@ The French Bear: I have an old pair on my patio too, I don't wear them, but they're very decorative.
@ Mar: You learned something new again today!
@ Loree: Yes, it's a nice touch.
@ Avril: Thanks!
@ Moneythoughts: Some people still wear them, but they are getting harder and harder to come by. To work in the garden, on the land, they're excellent safety shoes, they're healthy for the feet ...
@ Auntie E: Love the one with the flowers too.
@ Julie: Thank you Julie!
@ Sandy: They are, and since Belgians HATE to be compared to the Dutch, I just thought I'd mention it!
@ Eaton Benett: Thanks, and thanks for dropping in!
@ Susanne: You did? Well, they are healthy footwear once you get used to them.
@ Libby: These are antique Crocs. LOL!
@ MrslittleJeans: Some people stilol wear them yes. My husband wore some when we lived in our previous house in the country. I still have them, but they're decorative now.
@ Carletta: That's why I saved it for last!
@ ellievellie: It seems people wore wooden clogs all over Europe in the old days.
@ kaye: my favorite one too!

I have mine from when I was 8 years old! Almost 50 years ago! I will post them sometime! OH BTW (by the way) did you get the words to the song you asked about "The Waltz" from me? I am hoping you opened my comment. :)
I didn't know wooden clogs were Belgium too! My husband brought me home a wooden clog birdhouse a few months back - hey, I had forgotten that! :)
Very nice shots! My mom has some that we brought over when we came from holland, she put flowers in them too ;)
@ Linda Higgins: Please do!! I did get the words Linda, but only after my post was already up! You must have missed it, it's here
@ Lisa: Ha! It's a good thing I said that!
@ Just me again: how nice!
Oh, now this is sensible fashion! One can just paint and repaint their shoes so they have a match with every outfit! One of two pairs of clogs could do for years! No more closets full of shoes worn only once!
A touch of scarlet
makes the wooden clogs appear
as magic sabots.
My Ruby Tuesday
Another great post Jientje, one always learns when they come to visit.
Thank you for sharing.
Do people actually wear these, Jientje? I thought it was just one of those myths like everyone in California lives on the beach and swims every day. Fascinating!
We have a lot of tulips and wooden shoes around here, as it is Dutch country. Every other person has a last name that begins with Vander..or at the very least, Van...
I like the shoe w/the flowers in it.
Heidi
I had to show my husband how amazingly clear your photos are. I love the detail on the wood on the third photo.
@ Quilly: Just make sure the paint is dry before you leave! LOL!
@ Magical Mystical Teacher: How poetic!
@ Bill: You're welcome Bill!
@ Robynn: Some ( few) people still like to wear them yes.
@ 2Thinks: And which country is that?
@ Gutsy Writer: Thank you!
Love these so much! Great shots, all. Especially the last one.
