There is something about ruins, barns and old abandoned farmhouses that I love. I think rotten wood, chipped paint and broken windows can be very photogenic. When we came across this one, I just had to investigate a little closer.

Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

That's a little more chipped paint and broken windows...than I expected, Jientje! It has a special beauty and loads of different textures. The window pane broke in a perfect curved arch!

I COMPLETELY agree with you, Jientje. I love the light play and shadow in this, the textures, the tactile feeling you brought out. I love the history it conjures up, the feeling of time gone by, and the curtain in the window? That could be the cover of book. Very inviting, mysterious, and ominous all at the same time. I really liked this one!
I agree - ruins are amazing with different textures and colours. Just a little sad though knowing that the building was once in it's prime and is now forgotten and empty

what a great old building
There is beauty in it, isn't there. I always wonder who lived or worked in the places. Around here photographers like to photograph weddings or grads in their full dress against old buildings. It looks really cool.

This is my kind of place for picture taking. I've been taking pictures of old places too.
The stories that place could tell. Chipped paint describes some of my windows.
It takes a true artist to bring forth the beauty of abandonded places. My favourite is the close up of the window with the lace curtain.

Oh, I agree with you! There are a couple of ruined buildings I pass quite regularly, but always when I don't have a camera, or when I'm busy running off somewhere else.
