Strumming my pain with his fingers
singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
killing me softly with his song,
Telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song.
I heard he sang a good song,
I heard he had a style,
And so I came to see him
and listen for a while.
And there he was this young boy,
stranger to my eyes,
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
Singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
killing me softly with his song,
telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song.
I felt all flushed with fever,
embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt he found my letters
and read each one out loud.
I prayed that he would finish,
but he just kept right on
strumming my pain with his fingers,
singing my life with his words,
Killing me softly with his song,
killing me softly with his song,
telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song
UPDATE: I did a little research and it seems like this is a White Crab spider, family Thomisidae.

Gorgeous pictures and this is one of my favourite songs. So beautiful.
another participant swith great shots of how it works in the nature.
What amazing captures! You keep this up and National Geographic will be knocking on your door!
Creative, if not somewhat disturbing.
Seriously, you have such a talent for matching things up that no one else would think of and it works so well. But I hate spiders and most insects so it still made me shudder.
Visiting your photos is always a delight. These flowers, the spider and insect are awesome. The lyrics of that song match perfectly.
Eaton. :)
A gentle killing in a beautiful backgound of bloom and song...
Wow. Stunning macro!
Wow! One of my favorite songs of all the time! The killer is neat and wearing velveteen white gloves - the victim - she stung before and lost her friends and nobody would help her. Very interesting interpretation of the fight of two predators!
The world is filled with talented people, and the Internet makes it possible for us to visit with them. Without your blog, I would have never known you even existed. But now, I get to enjoy your talent through your blog. Beautiful photos.
AMAZING!!! I definitely second the comments of 'moneythoughts' above!!!
I heard that song on the car radio this morning too - quite a coincidence!!

Such drama captured! Well done.
I agree with Russ--fantastic drama!
Jientje...I just saw your reply to yesterday's comment...Hens and chickens is what we here in the U.S. call the plants growing on that thatched roof! :) Hens and baby chicks!
My Belgian Bombshell...you are as good with your photos as any National Geographic photographer. I swear you should apply for a job with them. And love the narrative with this. It's prefect. That is one of my favorite songs :)
Awesome, Jientje. Just awesome.
It amazes me the way you can get these pictures. You must have lots of patience. How long did you have to wait for these pictures?

I love your post, very dramatic with the shots and the lyrics. Well done!!!
Nature if amazing! And so are you! How long was the total process? That is ONE spider I would NOT want to bite me!
Love the pictures and the song you`ve put in my head because it`s one I just really love. Thank you for coming by my blog even when I`ve been so behind on reading others. Good to see your pictures again. Always awesome.
Very cool. Killing me softly is one of my all time favorites and just yesterday I was reading about these spiders. They don't make webs to trap their prey, they just sit and wait.
You DO come across the most AMAZING things to photograph! I wonder ... do you REALIZE how blessed you are?

Great shots sis!
Big hug,
Your little sister
Is that a wasp? Or a brightly coloured Belgian bee? We have black wasps here that catch spiders and paralyze them and then put them into a section of their clay nest with an egg. So that when the baby wasps hatch they have an instant meal. They fascinate me.
My friend is photographing my work next week So once he is finished I will send your cups over to you. (YAY) Love Kim
Hi Jientje! Glad to have found you! Great photos and I too love that song... so melancholy and beautiful. I adore Belgium, I haven't been there in about 5 years. I was in Brugges - truly one of the most beautiful towns in the world. Thanks for the intro and telling your readers how to say your name - that's so cute! Stop over and we can discuss Provence - I miss it terribly, but we had a great vacation :)
