This is the last series of pictures I took before I drenched myself and my camera by falling into a ditch last Sunday. I'm okay, but my camera is ruined. But thank God for my sweet husband who ordered a new one to replace my beloved companion. He of all people KNOWS I can't go on without my camera. Word from the shop yesterday was that it should be due next Tuesday.I am counting the hours now ...
This is the kind of landscape I used to see in my childhood years. This is the village right next to where my grandparents used to live. I treasure the fact that it has been left untouched by time, everything still seems to look the same it did when I was a child.

I, too, can't wait for your new camera to arrive: anyone who takes pictures as breathtaking as these needs to always have a camera close at hand.
I love scenes of places where time seems to have stood still, and it makes me sad when "progress" takes over and erases what we used to have. You have captured the spirit of this place beautifully.
I think we had the same idea ! I discovered some untouched places near our house and even cows !

There's something about me that adores cows, so those cow shots by the little pond are my favorites! And I love your landscapes with the bulidings in the background.

@ Christina: Don't feel bad about the trees, they're supposed to get cut down to the trunk every two years.
@ Quilly, no, it's not the same ditch, I would have seen that one!! Take a look at picture number nine. There are electricity poles with holes in them on the left of the picture. Pole number two, that's where it happened. If you look close, you'll see the reed ( on the left of the picture) between the white flowers and the pasture where the cows are. That's where the ditch was, you can't see the water because of the high grass and the reed.

@ Robynn: The trees are knotted willows, and they're supposed to be cut back every to years, to keep them in shape. By summer, they'll have new sprouts.

Jientje? Were the trees cut off like that when you were a child too? LOL! WHYYYYYY did they DO that??? I'm befuddled... and confused!
Truly it IS beautiful scenery. I was just commenting to Gattina that it is wonderful to FIND open spaces like that anymore. Even out here in the country where I live, more and more and more buildings take over! It's hard to find a good open stretch of land! Though I now knOw that there IS such land in our country - because I passed miles and miles of it driving through Indiana and Ohio!

I loved the photo of the three cows in the field with their different colorations...and the trimmed trees along the road...very interesting!
Lovely big photos and I enjoyed looking at them, pity the camera met its doom. I find it strange that the trees were all prunes so savagely. Nice cows.
If I must say my Belgian Bombshell...these are some of your best yet. The one in the mirror on the side of the car? Who the hell was driving? Hopefully not you? Oh wait. the car was at a stop...wheeeee...I love the mooer's. Now don't take this wrong, they were worth the drench if ya ask me LOL. What are those posts on the side of the road for? I've never seen such strange looking things. Was that what you saw in the ditch and saw the hole and tried to be like Kermit? LOL. Wonderful pics :)
