About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Ruby Tuesday Rock the Boat ...

This is a photo meme I love to play. Find a picture with some ( or a lot of ) red in it and post it to your blog. Each week I find myself looking for interesting subjects with red in it.
When I saw the rowing boats at the pond last week, I was not satisfied with only one picture, like I was used to do before. I made sure I photographed them from a few different perspectives.
My favourite one is the last one, and the one with the fishing guy I published on Sunday.

Speaking of photo memes I'm very proud to introduce my very own photo challenge . It's going to be played on Wednesdays, so if you're interested, grab your camera and play along!!
I've designed a button ( courtesy to Thom who sent me this link ) for you to use in your posts, feel free to grab it now and use it when you're playing! I'd like to call this meme "a Thousand words in Idioms" and I dedicate it to my late grandmother. Her colourful way with words inspired me for this ...

As long as people have been around, they have tried to communicate with each other. As a means of getting the message across as clearly as possible, idioms and sayings have found their way into our language. Now, because "a picture paints a thousand words", I thought it would be nice to make this a new photo challenge. The idea is to pick an idiom, or a saying, ( even slang is allowed) and illustrate it with a picture. Each week we'll cover two letters of the alphabet, okay?
We covered our first edition last week with A and B, it's here if you need some inspiration. We'll continue tomorrow with C and D.
If you haven't played yet, you can either catch up and do all four this week, or join in and start with C and D, I leave it entirely up to you, okay? I'll even add a Mr Linky ( if I can get it to work?) so you can all join in, and we can all visit each other, okay?

This is going to be so much fun!!

But that's for tomorrow.
If you want to see more Ruby Tuesday pictures, hop over to Mary the Teach's Work of the poet now and visit some of the other players there, okay?

Oh and um ... the voting is still on over at Sweetsauer's.
Anyway, my own Scavenger Hunt pictures are here. And if you want to vote for me, click here .
Thank you so much for your votes.

Oh my gosh, these look just like the old boats I learned to row in when I was a kid! I loved those old boats!

I've been incredibly busy the last few weeks and more to come for a couple of weeks, with travel and concerts, so I haven't been a'visiting much either. I've missed hanging out with you! I do look at your wonderful photos every day though!

When I see boats I always remember how difficult it was at Art school to design them ! Nice pictures !
BTW I hopped into your Idiom game ! I found a very nice webpage with German proverbs translated into English. So it makes it easier !
and .... mine is up ! I am an early bird !
