About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Macro Monday, Come On Baby Do the Juke Box Jive

mm

If you’ve seen the two previous posts, you’re probably wondering why there were no pictures of the jukebox Gattina caught me photographing? Well, I wanted to save them for Macro Monday.
It was so beautiful, I just HAD to grab my camera and get some pictures from it. So while Gattina was visiting the rest room, I took my chance! I moved the basket of baguettes which was in front of it to the other side, and started shooting some close ups and macro’s. I popped up the colors a little using the “time machine” feature on my Corel Paint Shop Pro x12, to make it look a little more funky.

Find more Macro Monday pictures here.

Congratulations ! the result is wonderful ! Fortunately I stayed a long time at the toilet, as my mobile catched me at this secret place, lol ! I saved my Juke box picture for next week for Ruby Red.
BTW now my photo uploading at Photobucket is finished too. Apparently after a while they all want money. So finally I subscribed with Google/Picasa again and .... payed (they were the cheapest) ! grrrrrrrr !!

It IS a stunning piece of equipment, to be sure! How fortunate the restaurant OWNER was to obtain such a jewel! And you two to find it in your travels! :) Wonderful shots!

Do you have any idea how good you are as a photographer? Or, are you a professional, and I haven't figured that out yet? These photos are like paintings to me. This is, in my opinion, just excellent work.

I don't know which is more amazing - your pictures, or the fact that you found an old Wurlitzer Jukebox in Europe.

So colorful Jientje - I must start looking for things (other that flowers and bugs) to shoot in Macro. I went over to Gattina's and checked out her blog;-)

Hi again Jientje and thank you for your comment on my blog. I just wanted to say that Long Island is on the other side of the country from my Long Beach....I guess there are several cities called "Long Beach" over here and the one I live in is near Los Angeles on the West Coast. Long Island is in the state of New York....I'd like to visit someday!

This is quite an amazing juke box! Your photos are wonderful and I love the color too.

Those were so common when I was a kid. That one does seem to be in great condition and the pictures are out of this world great.

First, I absolutly love your shirt top - saw a reflection of it in one of the pics - clasic red - very fresh design and artistic tie - very classy! Jukebox is a trasure chest for colors! How did you catch all that neon! I destort my photos with GIMP :)

@ Gattina: They did eh? Well, I'm not surprised. I'll stick to my Google account, and when >I need to pay, I'll pay. Pfft.
@ My pleasure Wanda, glad you enjoyed them!
@ Jacki: I like that effect. For this anyway.
@ Melli: Yes; it was kin of a nice surprise!
@ Moneythoughts: What a beautiful compliment! No, I don't think of myself as a "good" photographer, just one that still needs to learn an awful lot.
And I'm certainly not a professional.
@ Ballerina Girl: So glad you enjoy them!
@ The retired One: Yes, it was a nice photo opportunity!
@ Sarah: LOL!
@ Korie: I'm glad you liked it!
@ Lou: Thank you Lou. I'm not sure if it was an old one though. It was in such perfect shape, I'm beginning to have my doubts about that. I think it might have been a copy.
@ Libby: Anything Macro is fun.
@ MrsLittleJeans: You're welcome!
@ geert: Als het inderdaad een echte is, zeker wel. Maar daar heb ik toch een beetje twijfels over. Hmm.
@ Nicole: I did. And there are still details I forgot to photograph, damnit!
@ Thom: Oh well, I take pictures of everything! LOL!
@ Sara: Thanks for letting me know, that's so sweet of you! My mistake indeed, sometimes your mind plays tricks on you, and you read things you think are there, but they're not. That must have een it!
@ kaye: Thanks kaye!
@ Dr John: Thank you!! It was indeed in the most perfect shape. So perfect it made me wonder.
@ ellievellie: There is a feature on my Corel paint shop called the time machine. I used the last option from it, it makes the colors pop.

Gorgeous jukebox! I love what you did to the colors. It looks like the one I used to feed quarters to in the A&W (fast food) restaurant when I was a teen. Three songs for a quarter.

It really is a stunning piece of nostalgia!
We used to sit and listen to one at the local dairy queen when I was growing up.
