Is it a Window Views or a Sepia Scenes? Or both?
I mean, it’s almost a sepia, it has a door … as well as lots of windows.
And it’s definitely grainy. Sorry for that.
I photographed this gallery at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington DC.
A peaceful hidden place which is usually what I prefer to see when I travel or visit a town.
I mean, I can find the White House on Google Images, can’t I?
Besides … they’d never allow me to take pictures in there.
But there were lots and lots of photo opportunities inside the monastery when we took the guided tour…
… as well as outside.

"I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit."

No lighthouse without a light, and this was a real invitation to get creative with the camera. It was fun to play with the subject a little, using light
colors and shapes
transparency and reflections
creating something that becomes an abstract painting almost ...
just using different angles. FUN!
I love that kind of photography!
The rooms inside the lighthouse were not only very well furnished, they were also very nicely decorated.
Children’s toys
just a couple of simple items
made this lighthouse a light”home”
The lady responsible for the decoration was Anna Weems. She was born there in 1906. (She was almost the same age as my own grandmother who was born in 1907)
She lived there with her parents and her grandfather, who was the keeper of the lighthouse. When the lighthouse got turned into a museum it was decorated the same way she remembered it from her childhood years.
She did a wonderful job preserving this unique piece of American heritage.
Another amazing place I got to visit with Melli was Drum Point Lighthouse and Calvert Marine Museum.
It was built in 1883 and functioned as a lighthouse for eight decades before it was restored in 1962. In 1975 it got relocated to the Calvert Museum Site. It is now the only fully furnished lighthouse in the bay.
So many roads we’ve travelled
So many trucks I’ve seen
But can you believe
… only ONE Coca Cola truck?
They were probably all called back to their stations to get decorated for the Holidays?
Like I said, photographing barns was great fun and this particular one had a lot of great macro opportunities.
The woodwork …
Nature taking over …
I’m not sure if this is a spider or another insect. Does anybody know? He does have some kind of a web or silky threads, so it could be a spider, but he looks VERY different to ours?
He looks very threatening too, come to think of it. I’m very glad he remained up there while I was taking his picture!

Melli had been praying for the leaves to stay on long enough for me to be able to enjoy them, and her prayers were heard. The beauty of the colors of Fall was something I had never seen before. This is a little pond not too far from her home.

Have a great Weekend!
At Great Falls, - one of Melli’s favorite places to go all year around - ( and I can see why ) we took the canal boat ride. This was a treat.
Transportation like it happened a hundred years ago, a boat, a canal and a lot of muscle power … mostly by women and mules.
