About Me

Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

All Things, Great and Small …

Wanda and Kathy inspired me with their posts, sharing their beautiful moments from the week on their blog. I take so many pictures each and every day, it would be a shame to waste them or forget about the many little things that made me smile this week, the things that kept me busy, the daily stuff that makes me life …

The first cup of coffee in the morning. My cat Tisja snuggles up on my lap, she needs that moment alone with me, it would stress her out if I skipped that little morning ritual. Browsing through the paper, checking the weather report, all the wile enjoying the view outside. My closest neighbor lives in an old windmill, and I’m in love with the sight of that round brick tower when I look outside.

I open the door to welcome the cool morning air, and the peaceful sounds from my patio. I hear trickling water from the water fountain, my wind chime, and the church bell tells me what time it is. I like the sound of the wind chime, it used to be the doorbell of my shop some years ago.
There is the large Fuchsia I got from my father on Sunday, right behind the pink Hydrangea, with flowers so big and so heavy they almost bend to the floor.
In the afternoon my friend Annie and I seek out the recipes we want to use for our cooking session next Sunday. It’s so nice to be able to sit outside in the sun for a change. My pedicure appointment is at four. Painted toenails, tanned legs,
my new white skirt and sexy shoes … A perfect Summer feeling …

I pick the withered flowers, and leave them on the tray. It looks beautiful, like a Summer potpourri. The table could do with a little teak oil, the bird feeders need a refill, the plants are thirsty and I need to clean the some windows …
Enough to keep me occupied …

When he came home my husband told me there were a lot of bees on the lavender in the parking lot, so I took my camera and went downstairs. Photographing bees is not the easiest thing to do, but I enjoyed the practice and managed to get a couple of good ones …
I was on the phone with Gattina and we set a date to meet each other next week. I think we’re going to have fun together, let’s hope it does not rain?

Do you see that green suitcase? A present from my husband!

Yesterday I made some flower arrangements to decorate the house and my dinner table for the dinner party next Sunday.
The recipes inspired me and I had bought some cod at the fish monger’s, so I wanted to cook “something nice” for supper. Taking pictures while doing so … of course. Our first supper on the dining room table since we did the make over, and we both liked the change and the different view a lot.

Life is good, there were lots and lots of happy moments this week.
Just thought it would be nice to share them …

And, on the other side of the world, here in the states, so many people have no idea how life can be lived. Now is not the time to go into that, but just let me say, there is much to be learned from a land where they build their lives on a culture of thousand years. Knowing how to live some how got lost at sea. :-)

I so much enjoy looking at your pictures and reading about the way you live.

@ Wanda: I feel the same way about you, you make me smile each time I visit you.
@ Avril: Thank you, I love visiting you too.
@ MrsLittleJeans: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
@ Maggie: It was.
@ Bientje: Yes, that's the secret of a happy life sis!
@ Kaye: yes, they were.
@moneythoughts: The Art of living ...?
Oh and thank you, I'm so glad you like it.

Jientje,

I love your blog more every time I visit. The pictures are beautiful. Thanks for the award. I haven't posted it yet because we are officially on vacation. I'm cheating a bit right now by checking blogs :) I'll get to it in the next couple of weeks.
