About Me

My photo
Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Weekend Reflections, My Home is my Castle

James, over at Newton Area Photo hosts a new meme called Weekend Reflections.

This is what James wants us to do:

1)Post a reflection photograph
2)After I post my Weekend Reflections photo, add your name, country and link to MckLinky
3)Be sure that your link goes directly to your Weekend Reflections post.
4)Comment on other Weekend reflections participant's blogs.
Feel free to be creative. Remember this meme is for any type of reflection.

The castle at the municipal park is at walking distance from where I live.

What an incredible photo! Have you ever thought of making a coffee table book -- you could call it My Belgium in Photos. (Or an even better name, of course.)

That is picture postcard perfect my Belgian Bombshell. Well done. I see you use bing as your search engine? You like it? I'll bing it LOL.

THAT is gorgeous! In walking distance??? Oy! NOTHING is in walking distance from MY house! NOTHING! Well... except more houses... and a barn or two... but you take your life in your hands... cuz there's no sidewalks! I miss walks. WHAT is that gorgeous ground cover in the lower right side of that picture? I LOVE it!

Jientje dear? How do you feel about ... fleas?

Beautiful shot, it does look like a fairy tale could take place here. What a fantastic park. Kathy

Beautiful photo and setting...but living in Puerto Rico, I worry about mosquitoes and the possible resulting dengue...of course you don't have that problem!

Perfectly composed. Not too shabby for a home :) Nice place to take a walk by!

Wow, you can walk to a castle. That is really cool. This reflection is outstanding. It's really nice to look at. First I noticed the castle's reflection, then the fountain, then the trees.
Bon voyage, I hope that you enjoy my country! :)

Wow, that is gorgeous.

Within walking distance - how utterly wonderful!
The fountains splash barely fractures the clear reflection.
Excellent Jientje!

Very nice! Just about everything has already been said that needs to be said about this picture. It must be nice to take a walk in your country.

Nice home and pretty reflection! Apparently these homes with moats are a bummer to maintain, though :)

Your post and photos remind me of the concept in Oprah's magazine, where she has a 2 page photo of some gorgeous place and calls it, "breathing space." It's time to sit down and meditate. You should start that yourself, perhaps in a European magazine.

That is beautiful. I would be there all the time just taking it in. The photo reflection is just perfect too.

@ quilly : Hmmmn a coffee table book? Well, who knows, maybe you could talk me into that?
@ Thom : Bing is on Windows Live Writer. But you still don't use that, don't you? Yes, i like it!!
@ cieldequimper: Thanks!
@ Betty : It's pretty, true!
@ VioletSky : It adds to the fairy tale look, does it not?
@ Michael :Thanks!
@ Stine in Ontario : Thanks!
@ Wanda : Oh but it is in there, I looked it up!
@ Melli : They did some gardening, and planted Ivy and other plants on what looks like tunnel constructions for the ducks to hide under and swim around under and nest in...
Fleas Melli? ROFL!!
@ mbkatc230 : Yes, it's pretty, I agree. If you live that close, you tend to forget that?
@ Cynthia Pittmann:I don't think we have to worry about that here!
@ Ellie: Thanks!
@ James : Thank you James, my next reflection will be from your side of the world, can't wait to see what I can find!
@ Barbara H. : Thnks Barbara!
Carletta : I have a castle in my village, and you have deer in your garden....
@ moneythoughts : It is. It's pretty.
@ Kristi : Thanks. It IS pretty, I kind of forgot!
@ Bim : It's a cultural center, and it had some maintenance only last year.
@ Crafty Green Poet: Thanks!
@ spacedlaw: Thank you!!!
@ Nessa : Thank you Nessa!
@ GutsyWriter: A coffee table book, a magazine ... Thanks for the compliment!
@ Regina : Thanks!!
@ Rebecca : Thanks! If you live so close you tend to forget how beautiful it really is!
@ Stine in Ontario : YOU MUST LIKE IT A LOT TO VISIT AND COMMENT TWICE?
@ Robynn: Well, I don't know about that, there is a pub in the cellar and I have never noticed it was damp?

It does look like it is straight out of a fairy-tale. If you make a picture book--I'm in line to buy it. I think you should call it "Heaven is in Belgium" ;) I know--I'm so creative!
