About Me

My photo
Antwerp, Belgium
Welcome to the new, and improved version of Heaven in Belgium. I am Jientje. "Jientje", like the boys name Gene, followed by "chu"? "Gene-chu", that's how you pronounce my name. Yes!!!!That's it!! So now you know huh? I am an addicted blogger. I was born and raised and am still living in Belgium. Yeah, the "this-is- Tuesday-so-this-must-be-Brussels" kind of Belgium .. There, you see? Maybe you couldn't find it on the map, but at least I'm trying to change that a little by sharing lots of pictures. I really love to cook and create new things, like this blog for instance. I am a mother,a grandmothe and a wife too! They say I'm a traveler, and a photographer. Well that's just what they say, I love to make pictures, but I am far from professional ... If my English is not perfect, that would be because it's my second language. I do hope you'll forgive me any possible misspellings or strange vocabulary ... Now, as a result of all of the above, I get way too little sleep and my days are always much too short!

Each photo was more incredible than the one before it! By the time you reached the end, you'd taken my breath away. You're going to teach me this right?

Oh I just love the photo of that little bird. They are so common and you made him look so special. Crows, I admit, are not my favorite but you made a great photo of them.

I love all of these! The last snap with the pink flower and sunset is amazing. The lighting on the spider web is perfection.

Love them all. I especially love the spider shot.

The first photo made me think "The Raven", the 2nd one "I want her Camera", the 3rd made me stop and stare, the 4th I paused, the 5th I stopped breathing, the 6th I sighed, by the 7th...I was in "Heaven"!!!

So beautiful! Your photos just get better and better. You'll know I especially love the one of the sparrow. ;v)

Love the new header. Reminds me of when we went to Hungary when I was a kid.

What a cute round birdie ! Fortunately no Rosie sees it ! The pink sky is also very beautiful !

I agree with so many of the positive comments, so just let me say, very nice. People don't seem to realize that it is not the camera, but the person holding the camera and their vision that makes great pictures. You have a very special eye and a great sense of beauty.

@ Quilly: We'll teach each other, yours are great too.
@ hip chick: There was a time when they said on the news sparrows were almost extinct in Belgium. I'm so glad they visit me each day. They're special, I love them.
@ Tara R.: Thank you, that's a wonderful comment, especially since I had the feeling I did not have much to share this week.
@ Secret Mom Thoughts : Not everyone loves spiders, but it looks like we both like them!
@ Kari : Thanks. That last one came out great.
@ Smoochiefrog: he's cute eh?
@ Wanda : And your comment was Heaven to me!! Thanks dear.
@ maryt/theteach : Yes Mary, that IS a bra hanging there. Not mine though.
@ secret agent mama: Thanks Mishi!
@ Susanne:That's what I'm aiming at. To get better and better each week. Yes, I love my little sparrow too.
@ Gattina : I love Rosie, but we better keep her away from here!
@ Fred: And you always give the most charming compliments. Thanks!
@ Cassandra Rae : Thanks!
@ Becky : Thanks Becky, the sparrow is cute, i love how it came out!
@ Thom: I always keep the best for last. At least, I try!

Wonderful shots Jientje!
The sparrow is my favorite - great detail!

I love that sparrow shot, I thought immediately of "His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me" regarding the watchfulness of God over us all.

I tried to photograph a spider web once, it did not show up in the shot. Fash says the web must be wet and she wanted me to get a water bottle and spray it down. But I say it is because I just do not have a good enough zoom on my little point and shoot. Oh well. This was my "starter" camera. (I guess I'm not willing to believe it may actually be my lacking photgraphy skilz) :)

That spider shooting that single thread, that is just too good Jientje. Too good.

Suburban Girl said...

So about the spider...do you have a good zoom lens or did you get THAT close? And wow you've got the bokeh thing going on many of those shots too. Nice stuff! Like the new header banner too. It's fun! Enjoyed the photos on the previous post but didn't comment there.

I do love them all, but the pretty in pink is my favorite!!!

Great Photo's (as always)Jientje. Your pictures never cease to amaze me.

Terri said...

Oh these are all fabulous. I love the web and the feather in the web and the birds...just wonderful!!!

OH the big spider on the flower....ewww...too scary! NOt a fan of spiders at all..we spray here every other month to keep the dessert bugs out of the house...or we would be invaded! GREAT shots...ALL of them!

Loree said...

That spider's web is gorgeous.

Jientje said...

@ lisa: Aaaah, another spider lover! LOL!
@ Carletta: Thanks, that one came out great even though I hand held the camera.
@ 2Thinks: That's a great observation. I don't think it's your photography skills Heidi, I cannot do it either with my little point and shoot camera. You need a good macro function on your camera.
@ Rebecca : I do have a good zoom lens but I did not use it on the spider. I did get that close using the super macro function of my camera. Thanks for commenting this time! I love comments! LOL!
@ The French Bear: Yes, my husband loves that one best too! Have a great week Margaret!
@ Melli: I thought I did not have much this week, but somehow it looks like I did well after all. I'm so happy with that last one, the pink sunset was a gift from above!
@ Lis @ ATruckerWife: Yes, it came out great!
@ Libby: Thanks Libby!
@ Terri : Thanks, I'm so glad you like them!Counting the weeks till we get to go out photo walking together!
@ Linda Higgins: Thanks Linda. There are a few about here too, but they can live. They make great models!

@ Loree: Once I put it in black and white, I really liked it too!

Brilliant captures, Jientje. I particularly like the raven.

Very stunning nature close ups! Could you give us a tip on bokeh?

Barbara H. said...

These are so detailed and gorgeous. Well done!

Jientje said...

@ spacedlaw: Thanks! By the way, it's a Jackdaw, not a raven.
@ ROSIDAH: Shallow depht of field.
